When parents face overwhelming problems such as illness or bereavement they need help and support, and all too often they have no close family member or friends who can give them encouragement or breathing space when they really need it.

Home-Start NEA can provide a caring volunteer to help mum or dad cope again. The volunteers, are parents themselves, or with parenting experience, and will visit families at home. They are friendly, non-judgemental people, who can be trusted by parents to listen in strict confidence, and to work for the needs of each individual family.

We need people of all ages and backgrounds with parenting experience to train to become Home Visit Volunteers.

Firstly a big thanks to all of you who sponsored Allison Brownlee and Mike Birch for walking the 96 miles (official but we think it was over 100miles) West Highland Way.

We had a great time doing this walk albeit hindered a little by the torrential rain and wind for 2 days. Regardless of the weather we soldiered on and completed the walk in our planned time (6 days) and we even managed to sneak in a couple of ciders in the evenings before falling asleep by 8pm!

The mornings were pretty tough with stiff and aching joints, but after a good breakfast and a cuppa we were on our way again forgetting our aches and pains after 10 mins of walking. We finished in Ft William mid afternoon on Friday 8th April with our feet and joints a little worse for wear and soothed our souls with a good Indian meal and a few well deserved pints....

Thanks to your very kind donations, we have managed to raise over £735 for Home-Start NEA. This money will go towards helping families with young children in this area.
